DON’T SHY AWAY FROM THE
TRADITIONAL GREETING
Angry Progressives are even angrier this year, after an election that denied them a third Obama term — in which Hillary Clinton was to lead us further along the path toward national oblivion.
They could certainly use a little merriment. But don’t be surprised if they vent their sour attitude extra vehemently during what should be a festive season.
We’re likely to hear more of the annual whine about how we Christians are forcing our religion down everyone’s throats.
Back in December of 2013 I wrote an essay about the ongoing war over using the traditional greeting, “Merry Christmas!” It appeared on American Thinker, and I’ve reproduced it on this blog several times since.
The nuances of the debate may have altered somewhat over the years, but the points I made back then are still relevant. Check out the piece at…

The Donald must be reading my stuff. The Blaze reports that President Elect Trump has expressed his preference for the traditional holiday greeting, “Merry Christmas.” Here in Michigan on his post-election “Thank You Tour,” Trump said…
“We’re going to start saying Merry Christmas again.”
The crowd offered loud approval.
“How about all those department stores?” Trump continued. “They have the bells, and they have the red walls, and they have the snow, but they don’t have ‘Merry Christmas.’ I think they’re going to start putting up ‘Merry Christmas.’”
Go, Donald! You can watch a video of his remark at…

Here’s a cute little meme circulating on Facebook that expresses the interfaith aspect of the season. Remember, Jesus was Jewish…

I’ll take that as a sample of the extra vehemence I mentioned above. Irony abounds.
