DISTRACTIONS ABOUND, BUT
NOBODY KNOWS WHAT’S UP
It’s fascinating to observe all the verbal gymnastics going on among the Hillary gnomes as they try to deflect the political shrapnel blown out by the FBI’s reopened email investigation — or, as it’s come to be called, Weinergate.
According to perennial Clinton apologist, James Carville, the Vast Rightwing Conspiracy is back. And it’s bigger than ever, embracing not only the Republicans, but the FBI and even the Russians.
Perhaps the most pathetic reaction to this sudden downturn in Hillary’s fortunes is a Huffington Post “cri de coeur” by Terry Smith of DePaul College of Law headlined, “How Every American Knows What FBI Director Comey Did Was Wrong.”
Smith likens Hillary’s situation to that of a job seeker blindsided by unsubstantiated allegations of unspecified wrongdoing. He insists that…
“the Director of the FBI has made a unilateral decision to supply as part of a routine criminal background inquiry, not merely records of arrests, charges, and convictions, but evidence of any potential involvement in criminal activity, including any mention of your name in connection with a criminal investigation about which you are not the subject. This is essentially the action that FBI Director James Comey took against Hillary Clinton last Friday….
“Of course, you, the applicant, have no way of refuting what the FBI has said because it has not provided the employer with the ‘evidence’ to which it refers in the background check, nor, for that matter, has the FBI even examined the evidence itself.”
Now, this would indeed be a situation of great unfairness in the context of an ordinary application for an ordinary job. Of course, we’re not dealing with such mundane circumstances. We’re talking about selecting the next President of the United States.
That is not a recruiting process, it’s a political process. And the job to be filled is rather special.
We might wish the procedure could be conducted in a way that’s legally ethical and morally above board. But then, tell that to those undocumented immigrants and those dead people whose names keep turning up on voter registration rolls — all in the Democrat column. Or tell it to the installers of those voting machines that automatically default to Hillary Clinton.
For that matter, tell it to the women who claim, with absolutely no proof, that Donald Trump raped, groped, or otherwise humiliated them.
This is politics, kids.
Hillary’s most significant accomplishment — and it is impressive — has been to implant the idea among her cadre of followers that she deserves to be President. The argument goes…
A woman in the White House is long overdue; Hillary has devoted her entire adult life to the accomplishment of this goal, and she’s the only woman politician with a truly national constituency; ergo, Hillary deserves to be the first woman President.
That was the premise on which she ran back in 2008.
Unfortunately, Barack Obama made a more compelling case that a black President was also overdue, and that he was the one. So Hillary had to wait.
Now, however, the wait is over. Hillary and her gnomes are determined that nobody is going to impede the fulfillment of destiny — not some blustering jerk named Donald Trump, not the FBI, not the American people. Nobody.
I would be inclined to say, God help FBI Director James Comey if Hillary ever does become President. But some very strange things have been happening.
The White House defended Comey. Obama spokesman Josh Earnest actually quoted the President as saying he believes Comey is…
“a man of integrity”
“a man of principle”
“a man of good character”
…and that he didn’t think Comey was trying to undermine Hillary in the election.
Additionally, some of the staunchest Clinton supporters are starting to waver — people like Democratic pollster Doug Schoen, who told Fox News…
“I’m deeply concerned that we’ll have a constitutional crisis if she’s elected.”
What’s going on here?
I’ve always assumed there was a Plan-B, to cover the possibility that Hillary might lose. And while a Clinton presidency would make it easier to extend and expand the Leftist agenda Obama has pursued, a Trump victory might actually move things along more quickly.
Look at it from a national-destruction point of view. With The Donald in office and GOP majorities in both houses of Congress, there would be a green light for every variety of social disruption.
Imagine a conversation that goes something like this…
BARACK OBAMA: Well George, I guess you better pony up some additional cash so we can hire more of those idealistic, selfless young people to riot in the streets.
GEORGE SOROS: I’m ahead of you, Barry. The first spontaneous demonstration is already scheduled for Inauguration Day.
“…if what you’re concerned with isn’t so much winning an election as starting a revolution, then why not support the guy you assume will make the easiest target? There’s a certain logic to that, no?”
Then again, perhaps what I predicted last February might come to pass and we get Joe Biden stepping in at the last minute to save the Democratic Party?
On top of all this, a former State Department official and intelligence officer named Steve Pieczenik has posted a YouTube video claiming that it’s CIA and military intelligence insiders who’ve been providing all those hacked emails with which Wikileaks has been regaling us. He maintains that this action represents a silent counter-coup blocking Hillary’s (and Bill’s) attempt to subvert the election and take over the country.
Pieczenik has a controversial background, but he’s no whacko fringe type. He’s got a Ph.D. in Psychology; he served as an Undersecretary of State, and he’s been involved in some high-level international dramas, such as obtaining release of important hostages taken by various radical groups. So there may be substance to his claims.
This has been a wild election season, and there’s still a week to go. Anything can happen. And as Yogi Berra used to say…
“It ain’t over ’til it’s over.”
NOTE: The graphic above has been circulating on Facebook. I don’t know its source, but it’s clever and eerily relevant.
James Carville is a favorite talk show guest because he can always be counted on for a good rant against any challenge to Democrat scheming, especially if it involves the Clintons. But as reported on Lifezette, he had something of a meltdown when interviewed on MSNBC about the FBI’s reopened investigation…
“‘This is in effect an attempt to hijack an election,’ Carville claimed. ‘It’s unprecedented … the House Republicans and the KGB are trying to influence our democracy,’ he said.”
The Lifezette article points out that the KGB — of which Vladimir Putin is an alumnus — was disbanded in 1991. Surely there are still plenty of Russian spies around, but Carville needs to update his terminology…
Democratic pollster Doug Schoen had appeared on “Hannity,” stumping for Hillary. But 48 hours later, on “Fox Report Weekend,” he reversed his position. Here’s his exchange with host Harris Faulkner…
And here a link to Terry Smith’s heart-rending Huffington Post wail about the FBI’s unfairness to poor Hillary…
If the video’s still up by the time you read this — and it might have been long-scrubbed — here’s the link to Steve Pieczenik’s claim of a silent counter-coup…
