DRUDGE REPORT SPINS
AS PROTESTERS GATHER
I used to read the Drudge Report regularly.
Matt Drudge’s tabloid sensibility — not quite aliens and Elvis, but tending occasionally toward the sensational — was a little off-putting. But over all, his news judgment gave a good read on the relative importance of various issues in the public mind. And his sharp ear and close contacts made him able to bring many stories to wide attention which otherwise would have gone unnoticed.
At a minimum, he wasn’t warped by anti-Trump hysteria.
Not so whoever is making editorial decisions there now. The headline (above) on Monday’s edition says everything you need to know about where the Drudge Report currently falls on the journalistic ethics spectrum.
But it says something else, too. It tells me somebody’s scared that The Donald actually has the goods on the election steal — that he just possibly might pull a rabbit out of his hat.
